6-6, 314 pounds | Boston College | Round 6, Pick 202
Notable: Taylor, a four-year starter who played at Virginia for two seasons before transferring to Boston College in 2023, was a second-team All-ACC selection last season. He appeared in eight games at right guard, three at left tackle and one at right tackle.
Last season: Taylor, 24, played 837 offensive snaps last season, giving up 22 total pressures in pass protection, according to Pro Football Focus. That included five sacks and two hits. He ranked 286th in pass-blocking grade (71.2) among FBS guards and 41st in run blocking (73.7), per Pro Football Focus.
Why the Chargers drafted him: If competition breeds success, then Hortiz can’t go wrong by drafting another guard. Although Taylor primarily is a depth pick as a late sixth-rounder, he gives the Chargers a potential option if Slaughter moves to center or Trevor Penning or Cole Strange struggle or sustain injury.
