Jersey Shore Family Vacation is bringing the crew back to MTV this Thursday night, and the weekly countdown is officially on.
The official Jersey Shore Instagram account kicked things off Wednesday with its familiar rallying call: “JERZDAY THURSDAY is officially here! Tune in for an all-new episode of Jersey Shore Family Vacation TOMORROW at 8/7c on MTV.” The post was tagged #JSFamilyVacation and set the tone for another night with the Seaside Heights crew.
The new episode airs Thursday, May 8, at 8 PM ET / 7 PM CT on MTV.
Here’s the quick backstory for newer viewers. Jersey Shore originally ran on MTV from 2009 to 2012 and became one of the most talked-about reality series of its era. A group of young Italian-Americans on the Seaside Heights boardwalk turned into must-see television. The show was loud and messy. It was also genuinely hard to look away from. Six seasons later, it wrapped up and left a real gap in Thursday night cable.
The Family Vacation reboot launched in 2018 and brought the core group back together. The original cast returned: Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio, Vinny Guadagnino, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, and Deena Nicole Cortese. The idea was to see how the crew was doing as full-fledged adults. They had real lives and real responsibilities by then. It worked.
The show kept the energy of the original. It also let the cast grow into new roles. They came back as parents, as business owners, and as people who’d been through a lot. Pauly D built a career as one of the most in-demand DJs in Las Vegas. Snooki wrote books and grew a public brand. Mike Sorrentino went through a very public legal ordeal, served time, and came back to the show stronger. JWoww navigated a public divorce and moved forward on her own terms. The Family Vacation format gave them all room to be real people on camera. That’s harder to pull off than it sounds.
The reboot has now run for multiple seasons. The show outlasted a lot of the skepticism that greeted it in 2018. The cast’s real history with each other is what keeps viewers coming back. The show brings these characters and their stories into living rooms every week. Most reality television doesn’t try to do that.
The “Jerzday Thursday” phrase has become a signature part of how the show promotes its weekly episodes. It’s a simple play on “Jersey” and “Thursday.” By now it functions as a weekly call-and-response. The people who tune in every Thursday night know it on sight. It works. The community watching already knows what it means.
No specific storyline details for this week’s episode were shared ahead of the broadcast. The official account kept the announcement brief. Viewers will find out what the crew is up to at 8 PM ET Thursday on MTV.
Regular viewers know where to be Thursday night. First-time viewers will find Jersey Shore Family Vacation worth a look. The show brings its characters and their stories into living rooms every week. Thursday night on MTV is a good place to start.
Set the reminder. Jerzday Thursday is almost here.
