Reviewers say his portrayal of Michael Jackson makes it nearly impossible to remember you’re watching a stage show at all.
The Theatre Sphere put it plainly in their latest review. “His vocals are powerful, his dancing is breathtaking, and by the time he glides into ‘Billie Jean’ or ‘Smooth Criminal’, any awareness that you’re watching an actor rather than the man himself has long since evaporated.”

MJ the Musical builds its story around Michael Jackson’s life and music. The show made its Broadway debut in 2022 and quickly earned a reputation for high production values and demanding choreography. It has since toured internationally and is now making its way through Australia.
The production has built its reputation on the strength of its lead performers. Each new actor taking on the role faces the same question from audiences. Can they actually do this? The choreography is developed to match Jackson’s signature moves down to specific technical details. The vocal demands are real. Not everyone can carry it.
