Lindsay Lohan walked into the Gucci Cruise 2026 show in Times Square on Saturday, and fashion outlet Who What Wear had the caption ready: “@lindsaylohan, everybody. The icon stepped out for the @gucci Cruise show in Times Square tonight.”
The arrival video was shot by photographer Daniel at Guevara and posted to Who What Wear’s Instagram. The post drew more than 9,400 likes.
Gucci staged its Cruise 2026 show directly in Times Square. That’s an unconventional choice for a fashion house at this level. Cruise shows typically happen in curated, far-off settings – a palace in Rome, a villa on the French Riviera, a landmark somewhere glamorous. Times Square on a Saturday night is none of those things. It’s loud, crowded, and entirely open to the public.
Gucci threw open the velvet rope and put the show on the sidewalk, essentially. That’s a deliberate move for a brand with serious global reach. Times Square is one of the most recognized locations on the planet. Pairing it with a major Cruise collection sends a clear message. Gucci is talking to everyone right now.
Red carpet arrivals in a setting like this feel different from the usual format. There’s no hushed museum hallway or private estate driveway. Guests show up in the middle of one of the busiest places on earth, with regular New Yorkers and tourists walking past. That takes a certain kind of ease. Lohan arrived with exactly that.
She was one of the evening’s most-watched guests. Who What Wear’s label for her said everything: “the icon.” Not “the actress” or “the guest.” The icon.
The history behind that word is real. Lohan first became famous in the early 2000s through films like “Freaky Friday” and “Mean Girls.” Both films remain genuinely beloved. “Mean Girls” in particular has had a serious cultural resurgence recently, thanks to the Broadway musical and its 2024 film adaptation. She went through a rough and very public stretch after that, and then she worked her way back. Her 2022 Netflix film “Falling for Christmas” was a clear signal. She was returning to form. Audiences responded warmly, and she’s been building steadily since.
Gucci’s Cruise shows have historically attracted high-profile guests from across entertainment and fashion. Bringing this one to New York City, and specifically to Times Square, was a big swing. Lohan’s appearance added exactly the presence the occasion needed. The pairing made sense on both sides – Gucci gets star power, and Lohan gets another high-visibility platform. The momentum behind her comeback is real.
A major fashion show invitation is partly about the clothes. Mostly, though, it’s about the person wearing them. On Saturday night, Lohan showed up in the middle of Times Square and became the moment. That’s what “the icon” means.
Who What Wear didn’t need to say more. Three words was enough.
