Build Your Own Repertoire With Multiple Courses
The new Repertoire feature lets you create your own custom course by combining the best parts of different courses. With this, you can create a curated course that fits perfectly with the effort and time you want to put into your training.
For example, imagine you have two courses on playing 1.e4. You love the lines on the Ruy Lopez from the first course, but you prefer how the second course handles the Caro-Kann. With Repertoire, you can combine those lines into a single course.
Connect The Dots And Build A Complete Training Tool
Your custom course doesn’t need to stop at the opening. You can also use Repertoire to build your personal top-to-bottom training tool to help you master all aspects of the game.
The opening is just the first part of the game, but it also influences how everything else goes. For example, specific openings lead to well-known pawn structures—which, in turn, feature specific plans, tactics, etc.
Let’s say you’re a Caro-Kann player. After choosing the best Caro lines against each of White’s responses, you can still go further. For instance, you can add a few chapters about the Caro Formation from a course about pawn structures. This way, you’ll not only learn the opening moves, but you’ll also reinforce the common middlegame plans in that opening.
You can do the same with tactical exercises, model games, and anything else you find useful to deepen your understanding of the opening.
Customize Your Repertoire
Repertoire also lets you edit each line you add to your course to fit your needs. You can add comments, clickable variations, include alternative moves, adjust key moves, and more.
Let’s say you’re studying a sharp opening line, and at some point, the opponent plays a move that looks unnatural to you. You might be left wondering why they didn’t play the more natural move, but the author doesn’t go over that variation.
Once you add that line to your custom repertoire, you can analyze the other move with an engine. You can then add comments or even variations explaining how to punish that other move.
With this feature, you can even turn key parts of model games into trainable variations! And the best part is that none of these edits will affect the original course. You can still return to the original course and view all the content in its original form.
How To Use Repertoire
To use Repertoire, go to the course you want to pull content from. Go to the chapter where the desired content is, then click the “Add Repertoire” button.
Select the lines you want to add to your custom repertoire, then click the “Add Repertoire” button again, which should now be blue.
Click “Continue” in the confirmation window, then choose which custom course you want to add the content to. If you haven’t created your custom repertoire yet, you can do it in that window. Next, select the chapter the content should go to and press the “Add Variations” button.
You can also easily add full chapters to your custom repertoire. Go to the main course view, where you can see a list of all chapters. You’ll see an “Add to Repertoire” button right above the chapters. Once you press it, the process is the same as the one described above.
