Obama noted the episode holds “no shortage of laughter” but added that “the poignant moments will stay with you just as much.” That description fits how her podcast tends to operate. Chappelle’s relationship with press interviews has been selective. He gives relatively few sit-down conversations compared to comedians at his level of visibility. He tends to engage on his own turf: stand-up sets, Netflix specials, or events at the comedy club he’s long been associated with in Yellow Springs. A podcast recorded in his hometown, hosted by someone known for measured conversation, fits that pattern.
